Renata Machýčková (*1988, Valašské Meziříči, Česká Republika)
The author studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague/ in the studio of Vladimír Skrepl and Jiří Kovanda from 2007-2013. She has participated in several internships and residencies as well as solo exhibitions at home in the Czech Republic and abroad. The author is devoted to painting, works on paper, but an important part of her work is also working with wax. In our gallery she presents her current works on paper. They are the result of delicate work with a destructive tool – scalpel – where the paper is distorted by many cuts through a this sharp object. This work creates a rippling relief texture on the smooth surface of the paper, which can evoke haptic associations in the viewer. The role of physicality, physical contact and the materiality of associating stimuli have long played an important role in the artist’s work. The artist lives and works in Bergamo, Italy.
